| Even before she became a mom to one-year-old August and four-year-old Ella, photographer Katrina Wittkamp had long practiced the art of patience. With 15 years experience behind the lens, her photojournalism degree from the University of North Carolina has led her everywhere from photo editor of the Chicago Tribune to freelance photographer for publications like TIME, People, Teen People, CS, Chicago magazine, Michigan Avenue, The Sunday Tribune Magazine and Ladies’ Home Journal. But her latest subjects have involved capturing not just a compelling moment, but the sleepy eyes of a waking newborn, the candid grimace of a toddler or a young brother and sister mid-giggle. Wittkamp’s bright, East Village studio provides a warm and comfortable space for parents, kids, and babies alike to be at ease, and let their true personalities show whether captured in artificial or natural light. Yet Wittkamp can easily apply her warm, approachable style and eye for natural shots at your own home or a location of your choice. Along with tots and babies, Wittkamp also specializes in capturing the ever-growing bellies of moms-to-be, parents with their newborns, as well as family shots, portraits and headshots. |
